Good 1st step, share exact date when will EC share the poll data: Rahul Gandhi

TSG On WeekdaysGood 1st step, share exact date when will EC share the poll data: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday asked the Election Commission of India to reveal the date by which it will hand over the Maharashtra and Haryana poll data in a digital, machine readable format.

Rahul Gandhi, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha made the remarks after the poll body reportedly decided to share electoral roll data for Haryana and Maharashtra from 2009 to 2024.

In a social media post on X, Rahul welcomed the Commission’s decision.

Rahul Gandhi took to X, and wrote, “Good first step taken by EC to hand over voter rolls.”

“Can the EC please announce the exact date by which this data will be handed over in a digital, machine-readable format?” Rahul Gandhi asked.

Rahul Gandhi has targeted the poll panel alleging large-scale electoral manipulation in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, calling it a “blueprint for rigging democracy”, and warned of same plot will be repeated in Bihar assembly polls.

He had slammed the poll panel on Saturday and in a post on X, wrote, “How to steal an election? Maharashtra assembly elections in 2024 were a blueprint for rigging democracy.”

He said, “My article shows how this happened, step by step: Step 1: Rig the panel for appointing the Election Commission. Step 2: Add fake voters to the roll. Step 3: Inflate voter turnout
Step 4: Target the bogus voting exactly where BJP needs to win and Step 5: Hide the evidence.”

He said that it’s not hard to see why the BJP was so desperate in Maharashtra.

“But rigging is like match-fixing – the side that cheats might win the game, but damages institutions and destroy public faith in the result. All concerned Indians must see the evidence. Judge for themselves. Demand answers,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi also said: “Because the match-fixing of Maharashtra will come to Bihar next, and then anywhere the BJP is losing. Match-fixed elections are a poison for any democracy.”

The 2024 Maharashtra assembly polls witnessed the decisive victory of the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance with 235 seats, while the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) suffered a major setback.

Similarly, assembly polls in Bihar for 243 member assembly us scheduled later this year.

Later, the poll body issued a statement calling Rahul’s alleged remarks of match fixing as completely absurd.
