Calls IAF personnel the “epitome of courage” after India’s powerful strikes on terror camps in Pakistan under Operation Sindoor
CHANDIGARH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday made a surprise visit to the Adampur Air Force Station in Punjab and met the air force jawans who took part in Operation Sindoor giving a powerful military response against terror camps in Pakistan.
During his visit, PM Modi interacted with Indian Air Force personnel and praised their courageous services to the nation. He was also given a briefing about the operation and the role played by the Adampur base.
“It was a very special experience to be with those who show so much courage and fearlessness. India is forever grateful to our armed forces,” PM Modi said in a post on social media platform X with photos.
The visit came just three days after India and Pakistan agreed to pause military action on May 10. However, Indian officials clarified that the operation is not over, and further steps will depend on Pakistan’s behavior.
Addressing the nation on Monday evening, PM Modi said Indian forces had been given complete freedom to act against terrorism.
“Every terror group now understands what it means to attack our daughters and sisters,” Modi said emotionally, referring to the name Operation Sindoor, which symbolises the red mark worn by married women in India.
“After surgical strikes and air strikes, Operation Sindoor is a new chapter in India’s fight against terror. If we are attacked, we will respond on our own terms. No one should mistake India’s patience for weakness,” he added.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, where 26 tourists lost their lives.
The Prime Minister’s visit to the border state is also being considered as a moral booster for the army jawans and people of Punjab which shares nearly 550 km border with Pakistan and six districts of the state were on high alert during the army operation.
India has made it clear that it will not allow terrorism to grow under the shadow of nuclear threats and will continue to act with strength and precision.
