TSG On WeekdaysSangathan Srijan': Congress plans restructuring from ground level, Rahul monitoring personally

New Delhi: Even as Congress is stressing on the Sangathan Srijan, and party leader Rahul Gandhi attending several programmes in different states to rejuvenate the organisation, sources on Wednesday said that it is working on a new model of appointments of district president’s and the Leader of Opposition is personally overseeing the process of appointments.

The Congress began the process of ‘Sangathan Srijan’ from Gujarat earlier this year, and Rahul Gandhi leading the party’s campaign to strengthen it from the grassroot.

After Gujarat, Rahul Gandhi on June 3 travelled to Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal and to address the Haryana’s party leaders in Chandigarh on June 4.

The party source said that the entire strategy focuses on strengthening the party from the grassroots, especially special focus on empowering the district Presidents, who will have more power than before.

The source said that the focus is on empowering the district Presidents and through this Sangathan Srijan, the party plans to restructure and rejuvenate the party.

The source also said that the grand old party is working on a new model for appointment of district Congress presidents and it will have several parameters.

Thr source claimed that Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha is personally overseeing the process of appointments of district Congress presidents.

The source.also added that instead of Congress leadership appointing district chiefs from Delhi, the party has first appointed observers and sent to each and every district to get inputs from the ground and based on that district Presidents are to be appointed.

The source said that process for Gujarat has been completed and process for Madhya Pradesh and Haryana has.also been initiated.

The Congress earlier this year planned to give more power to district presidents, with them having more say in the selection of candidates for assembly and general elections along with the state unit chiefs and incharges.

Rahul Gandhi Wednesday held meetings with party leaders and workers in Chandigarh to address internal factionalism and reinforce unity. The initiative includes appointing observers, reviewing mobilisation efforts, and preparing reports on organisational developments.

Even in Bhopal he held four meetings with the party leaders.
