TSG On WeekdaysTaiwan slams Kashmir terror attack, pledges support for India amid escalating Indo-Pak tensions

In In the wake of the recent rise in hostilities between India and Pakistan following a terrorist incident in Kashmir on April 22, 2025, Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has released a strong statement denouncing terrorism and voicing profound concern about the escalating regional instability.

The terrorist strike, which occurred in Pahalgam, Kashmir, and targeted civilians—claiming the lives of 26 tourists—has reignited tensions between the two neighboring nations and sparked widespread alarm throughout the global community. MOFA underscored its resolute opposition to terrorism in all forms and reiterated its steadfast commitment to collaborating with democratic allies worldwide to combat transnational extremist threats.

In its formal communication, MOFA conveyed unwavering support for India’s sovereign right to implement all legitimate and essential actions necessary to uphold its national security and protect its people from acts of terror. The ministry emphasized that attacking innocent civilians through such violent means is a severe breach of international standards and fundamental human rights.

The statement clearly expressed “firm support for all legitimate and necessary actions taken by the government of India to safeguard national security and fight terrorist forces that cross borders to attack innocent civilians.”

As the situation in the region remains volatile, MOFA pledged to maintain close monitoring of developments and affirmed its readiness to engage in joint initiatives that aim to foster peace and stability across the Indo-Pacific. It also called for restraint and constructive dialogue among all involved stakeholders to prevent any further deterioration of regional security.

Given the prevailing security concerns, MOFA also issued a travel advisory for Taiwanese citizens currently in the region. It urged nationals to place personal safety above all, stay away from areas of unrest, and leave conflict-affected zones as soon as possible. In the event of emergencies, Taiwanese citizens were advised to reach out to the nearest overseas representative office for immediate help and guidance.

Reaffirming its ongoing dedication to preserving peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region, MOFA highlighted the critical need for international cooperation in the global fight against terrorism and efforts to prevent the escalation of armed conflicts.
