New Delhi: Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, met Union Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia, at his official residence on Monday. During their discussion, the Chief Minister extended an invitation to Scindia to chair a session titled “Role of I-Ways in Viksit Assam” at the upcoming Advantage Assam – Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2.0, scheduled to take place on February 25-26 in Guwahati. Accepting the invitation, Union Minister Scindia agreed to lead the session at this significant event.

Later, taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Glad to have met Hon’ble Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in Delhi today. I am happy to share that he will chair a session on the role of ‘I-Ways in Viksit Assam’ during Advantage Assam 2.0. This session will bring together key stakeholders and the best minds in the communication and tech industry to help us formulate an Assam-specific strategy for building Information Highways in the state.”

Additionally, Chief Minister Sarma met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at Parliament House, where he congratulated her on presenting one of the most commendable budgets in India’s history—one that places the middle class and small businesses at the heart of the government’s agenda. He also expressed gratitude for the announcement of a new urea facility in Assam, which is set to give a significant boost to the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Furthermore, the Chief Minister discussed the forthcoming Advantage Assam Summit 2.0 with Sitharaman, and she graciously accepted his request to grace the valedictory session of the event.

Following this, the Chief Minister met Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, at Parliament House. During their meeting, Sarma invited Puri to participate in the session on Hydrocarbons and Energy at Advantage Assam 2.0. The Union Minister accepted the invitation, agreeing to lead discussions on this crucial topic. Later, Sarma took to X to share his thoughts, writing, “Had an excellent conversation with Hon’ble Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. We are grateful for his consent to drive forward the session on Hydrocarbons and Energy at Advantage Assam 2.0. We spoke at length about how Assam had an early mover advantage in the oil industry, but its full potential remains untapped. Our joint effort is to ensure that Advantage Assam 2.0 serves as an enabling platform to harness Assam’s energy potential in a sustainable manner through cross-collaboration between key stakeholders.”

Additionally, the Chief Minister met Union Minister for Commerce and Industries, Piyush Goyal, at his office. During their discussion, Sarma requested Goyal to lead deliberations on leveraging exports as a key driver of Assam’s economic growth, thereby furthering the vision of Viksit Bharat. Accepting the invitation, the Union Minister agreed to head discussions on this crucial topic at the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit.
