Poland’s WB Group is strengthening its position in India’s defence sector with a new strategic agreement announced at Aero India 2025 through its Indian joint venture, WB India, as demand for autonomous unmanned aerial systems (UAS) grows in military and security operations. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and WB Electronics India marks a key milestone in the company’s push to expand its footprint in India’s thriving defence-tech ecosystem.
Under the collaboration, WB India will focus on decentralised collaborative autonomy—an emerging technology that allows multiple drones to operate in coordination with minimal human intervention. The collaboration is expected to drive next-generation autonomous solutions tailored for India’s military reconnaissance, surveillance, and operational needs.
Speaking about this collaboration, WB Electronics India’s CEO, Ashish Sharma, said, “At WB India, we take immense pride in the innovative technologies we bring to India’s defence sector.”
“We are excited to partner with Larsen & Toubro, a recognised leader in defence engineering solutions, to deliver tailored, indigenous systems that will significantly augment the capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces,” he added.
India is investing heavily in drone technology as part of its defence modernisation strategy, with the unmanned systems market projected to grow exponentially over the next decade. WB Group is considered a global industry leader known for its rugged and combat-proven UAV solutions and has steadily increased its engagement in India, aligning with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative to boost indigenous defence production.
The company has already demonstrated its FlyEye reconnaissance drones in India, with growing interest from the Indian Army and other defence forces. With heightened security concerns and an increasing focus on network-centric warfare, autonomous drone swarms and AI-driven UAS solutions are expected to become a critical component of future military operations.
With Aero India 2025 wrapped up, WB India’s latest move signals its commitment to building deep-rooted partnerships and advancing India’s defence technology landscape. The company is well-positioned to capitalise on India’s growing appetite for cutting-edge aerospace and defence innovations with strategic collaborations like this.
