The battle for survival doubles as a quest for European competition spots as Alaves will host Villarreal in a thrilling La Liga 2025/26 match at Estadio Mendizorrotza. Alaves have been one of the most struggling teams in La Liga, and that resulted in the replacement of coach Eduardo Coudet. At the moment, the team is 16th, just two points away from the relegation zone. Now, guided by Quique Sanchés Flores, the Babazorros are very eager to get a “new manager bounce” to stop their six-game winless streak.

Meanwhile, Marcelino’s Villarreal are on fire as the 4th-placed team; they currently have an almost unbeatable lead for a spot in the Champions League. In fact, the Yellow Submarine are the favourites on paper, but still, they are up against an Alaves team that has proven to be a tough nut to crack at home, being unbeaten in their last four games against Villarreal in Vitoria Gasteiz.

Alavés Team And Injury News

Coach Quique Sanchez Flores is having the most difficult time deciding who to put on the field, as suspension problems are becoming a real headache. The defence is under threat as Jon Pacheco’s absence will be felt. The team loses the very seasoned Ander Guevara in the middle of the park who, along with Pacheco, is serving a ban due to getting red cards. Facundo Garcs is not even allowed to play due to the disciplinary problem. Injuries-wise, Carlos Protesoni is a great doubt because of his leg injury. However, the squad is happy to have Victor Parada back amongst the group of players for the match, which is greatly helping in defence.

Villarreal Team And Injury News

Marcelino’s team is still struggling with the absence of key defensive players who will be out for a long time. Both Juan Foyth and Pau Cabanes suffer from serious injuries to the Achilles and cruciate ligaments, respectively. Logan Costa and Pau Navarro might not play due to their lack of fitness. But the good news for the visitors is that defender Willy Kambwala has been cleared by the doctor after his hamstring injury. Ayoze Perez is still a question mark for tomorrow’s game, so Georges Mikautadze will probably be the one to partner Nicolas Pp up front.
