Ann Widdecombe Murder Latest News: Police are examining new CCTV footage after a 28-year-old man was arrested in Rotherham on suspicion of murdering former UK Cabinet minister Ann Widdecombe. The suspect, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was detained by armed officers at a mid-terrace house in South Yorkshire, around 270 miles from Ms Widdecombe’s home in Devon. Detectives are reviewing footage that allegedly shows a man placing a wooden stick into a red Vauxhall Corsa on the day of the killing.

Police said she had exchanged messages with a producer for Channel 5 shortly before she was due to appear remotely on Matt Allwright’s programme.

Assistant Chief Constable Matt Longman said investigators have found no evidence that the killing was politically motivated or related to terrorism. He confirmed that the suspect is a white British man and that detectives are not seeking anyone else in connection with the case.
