In its recent forecast, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) which is the state weather agency of China has warned of immense rain in the country’s southern part.
South China recently faced floods and landslides due to the onslaught of double typhoons Maisak and Bavi. Currently, the region is facing stormy weather with heavy winds and high humidity.

Yes, South China is at a high risk of flash floods and landslides, due to the ongoing weather conditions. Nine rivers in the region are currently dangerously high water levels and the National Meteorological Center has maintains a Yellow Rainstorm Alert for the region.
The PRC’s Ministry of Emergency Management has cautioned that the country’s flood-control situation is ‘severe and complex,’ prompting widespread emergency evacuations. Currently, there is an active rain belt in the region, stretching from Yunnan province in the southwest straight to the Yangtze River Delta on the eastern coast.

Many in Southern China are now seeking a respite from the stormy weather which has prevailed for most of this month. According to the Chinese government’s Ministry of Emergency Management, the heavy downpour will continue for the next 3 days. However, the country’s National Climate Center has said that the region is in the early stages of monsoon season, with a possibility of at least 6 typhoons forming in the Asia Pacific before August. Some climatologists have observed that this year’s El Nino has worsened the weather conditions, although South China does have a history of immense rainfall.
