Texas’s Dairyland Produce LLC, of Houston, has recalled some of its jalapeño peppers because the vegetable may be contaminated with Salmonella.
The recalled product was sold at Costco locations in Texas. According to Hardie’s Fresh Foods (commercial name of Dairyland Produce LLC), the recalled lot codes are X2741775, X2741859, X2744163, X2744706, X2746349, X2746490 and X2748743. The food manufacturer initiated the recall last week on August 12, 2026 & then informed the FDA. The federal health agency shared the recall news recently.
Salmonella is a type of bacteria that occurs in all types of foods, ranging from processed nut butters to fresh fruits and vegetables. The bacteria causes salmonellosis, a disease which affects the human digestive tract. With treatment, it can be cured within 4 to 7 days.

Dairyland Produce LLC initiated the recall after uncovering that some of its Jalapeños might be contaminated with salmonella, which can cause fatal infections in young children, the elderly & other vulnerable groups. It then launched a voluntary recall as a precautionary measure and informed the federal health agency Food and Drug administration (FDA).

Texas is the only state specifically identified in the FDA recall notice for Salata’s Dairyland Produce Pepper Jalapeños. That’s because the recalled jalapeños was distributed through Costco grocery stores only in Texas at only 2 locations – Stafford & Dallas.
FDA Statement on Dairyland Jalapeño Recall
The FDA says the jalapeños have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly among young children, older or frail people and those with weakened immune systems. The agency has also advised consumers to not eat the affected product.
