Democrat Senator Sheldon Whitehouse from Rhode Island released a bombshell statement recently regarding the ongoing work at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
Whitehouse claims that he received a whistleblower disclosure from the Government Accountability Project, a nonprofit whistleblower protection group which detailed issues that stem from the rushed or improper reconstruction work at the Kennedy Center.
“The Center’s subservience to the President’s desires and its corner-cutting contracting practices have resulted in steel columns that are rusting through fresh paint, a reflecting pool that may have to be torn out and rebuilt, and a brand-new bathroom floor torn out over an offending tile color”, Whitehouse disclosed in his statement.
He then added that “This is a waste, and it treats a national memorial to President Kennedy as if it were a private renovation project”. And in another shocking development, a contract for replacing the center’s concert hall floor was granted to a firm with little to no experience of working on concert halls.
President Trump has tried to exert an increasing amount of influence over the performing arts centre for quite some time now.
