Pam Bondi faces scrutiny after allegedly carrying Rep. Jayapal’s DOJ Epstein database search history into a congressional hearing.

Epstein Files Latest Update: Controversy erupts after AG Pam Bondi allegedly displayed Rep. Jayapal’s DOJ search history during a heated Epstein files hearing.
Epstein Files Latest Update: The House Judiciary Committee hearing became controversial because Attorney General Pam Bondi presented a printed search history that she allegedly obtained from Rep. Pramila Jayapal. Photos showed Bondi with a black binder labeled “Jayapal Pramila Search History,” which contained document numbers that corresponded to files about Jeffrey Epstein.
The incident raised questions about whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) tracked congressional searches within its Epstein documents database.
Washington state Democratic Congressman Jayapal criticized the situation with strong disapproval. In a post on X, she said it was “totally inappropriate and against the separation of powers” for the DOJ to monitor members of Congress reviewing Epstein files.
She accused Bondi of bringing a "burn book" that contained her search documents, which she described as an "outrageous" act. Jayapal said she plans to pursue the matter further.
House Speaker Mike Johnson said he was unaware of the situation. He said that such an action would be inappropriate if it happened.
The DOJ has not answered questions about its tracking of lawmakers' search histories.
During the hearing, Jayapal highlighted concerns from Epstein abuse survivors who stood to show their lack of contact with DOJ representatives. Bondi dismissed the exchange as "theatrics."
The controversy adds to ongoing political tensions surrounding the release and handling of Jeffrey Epstein-related documents.
