Conservative commentator Candace Owens is facing strong backlash on social media after a woman she accused of having prior knowledge of Charlie Kirk’s death publicly rejected those claims in an interview.

Owens had earlier alleged that this woman knew about the assassination in advance while questioning the alibi of Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, who is also the CEO of Turning Point USA. Owens raised these accusations while pushing multiple conspiracy theories linked to the killing.

Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed while attending an event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. Since then, Owens has repeatedly suggested different theories, including alleged foreign involvement and claims pointing toward people within TPUSA, including Erika Kirk. However, Owens has not presented any evidence to support these allegations.

The woman accused by Owens, who is reportedly a close friend of Erika Kirk, has now spoken publicly. She appeared in an interview with conservative commentator Graham Allen, who shared clips from their conversation on X. Allen wrote, “exposing Candace Owens lies about Erika Kirk…No more games! Just the TRUTH!!”.

In another post, he added, “The woman Candace Owens accused of having prior knowledge of Charlie Kirk’s assassination DEBUNKS her horrific lie!! Candace attacked her, her daughter, and Erika Kirk. We just exposed her LIE!”.

What Erika Kirk’s friend said

The woman interviewed was Tracy Martin, described as Erika Kirk’s longtime friend. Her daughter reportedly works with the TPUSA CEO. Owens had earlier claimed that Martin’s daughter, whom she described as Erika’s assistant, had a “bad feeling” about attending the Utah Valley University event where Kirk was killed.

During the interview, Martin began by speaking positively about Erika Kirk, who has faced intense scrutiny online since her husband’s death. She said, “Charlie knew exactly who he was marrying and God knew that Erika would be the woman she is right now.”

Addressing Owens’ accusations, Martin said, “I think when something is taken out of context, plugged into the narrative and then ran out, I can see where people get twisted on this.” She described the situation as “very manipulative” and added that when someone is dealing with what she called a “conspiracy psychosis,” they are able to “feed the narrative and then they are able to reframe that in any way they wanted to.”

Online reactions

Allen’s interview, which directly challenged Owens’ claims, triggered strong reactions online. Many users praised Martin for speaking out and criticised Owens for targeting a grieving family.

One user commented, “I'm ready to see God bring His just rewards to this vile woman.”

Another wrote, “time to come clean and check into a mental hospital! You’re being debunked and caught in your disgusting, vile lies! Did you really think we would all let you attack a grieving widow and not fight to expose YOU! Get some mental help!”.

A third added, “Candace slandered Erika's BFF Tracy Martin, claiming she had foreknowledge of Charlie's death. Tracy proved otherwise and asked Candace, 'how are you going to right this wrong against my family?' Candace promised to ‘instantaneously’ put a message out. SHE STILL HASN'T.”

The controversy has further intensified scrutiny on Owens, as critics accuse her of spreading unverified claims during a sensitive period following Charlie Kirk’s death.
