The conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate as the United Arab Emirates successfully intercepted a large wave of Iranian missiles and drones aimed at strategic locations in the Gulf. According to officials, air defence systems destroyed most of the incoming projectiles before they could reach their targets, preventing what could have been a major military and security crisis.

The attacks came as Iran intensified retaliation against US military facilities in the region. Several Gulf countries that host American forces have been placed on high alert amid the growing confrontation.

Authorities in the UAE confirmed that their defence systems tracked and neutralised multiple airborne threats during the latest escalation. The swift response by the country’s air defence network helped limit potential damage and maintain stability in one of the world’s most important energy and aviation hubs.

UAE defence officials reported that air defence systems detected a total of 16 ballistic missiles heading toward the country. Out of these, 15 were successfully intercepted and destroyed, while one missile fell into the sea without causing damage.

At the same time, the defence systems also tracked a large number of unmanned aerial vehicles. Officials said 121 drones were detected, with 119 intercepted before reaching their targets. Two drones fell within UAE territory but did not cause major damage.

The interception operation highlighted the capabilities of the UAE’s integrated air defence network, which works with radar tracking systems and missile defence platforms designed to neutralise aerial threats quickly.

Iran-Israel War Latest News: US Military Bases Targeted Across Gulf Region

The missile and drone launches were reportedly part of Iran’s broader military response aimed at US military installations located across several Gulf countries.

Many of these bases support American operations in the region and play a key role in monitoring security threats in the Middle East. One of the known locations targeted during the broader conflict includes facilities near Abu Dhabi that host US military assets.

Security analysts say that Iran’s strategy appears to focus on striking locations linked to US operations while also sending a political message to Gulf nations cooperating with Washington.

The targeting of facilities close to major cities has raised concerns about civilian safety, especially in countries with dense urban populations and large international communities.

Despite the successful interceptions, falling debris and fragments from destroyed missiles and drones still caused casualties and injuries in some areas.

Officials confirmed that three people were killed, including nationals from Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. Additionally, 112 people suffered minor injuries during the incidents. Many of the injured included residents from different nationalities living in the UAE, reflecting the country’s diverse expatriate population.

Emergency teams quickly responded to the affected locations, providing medical treatment and securing impacted areas. Authorities also urged residents to remain calm while security agencies continue monitoring the situation.

Following the incident, the UAE Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its readiness to defend the country against any external threats.

“The Ministry of Defence affirmed that it remains fully prepared and ready to deal with any threats and will firmly confront any attempt to undermine the security of the state, ensuring the protection of its sovereignty, security and stability, and safeguarding its interests and national capabilities.”

Officials said the military remains on high alert as tensions in the region continue to evolve.

Iran-Israel War: Growing Regional Tensions Amid the Iran–US Confrontation

The latest missile interceptions highlight the widening impact of the conflict between Iran and its adversaries in the region. As military operations intensify, Gulf countries hosting US military facilities have become key strategic locations in the escalating confrontation.

Security experts warn that continued missile and drone launches could increase risks for both military installations and civilian infrastructure. Governments across the Gulf are strengthening air defence measures while coordinating closely with allies to prevent further escalation.

For now, UAE authorities say the country’s defence systems remain ready to respond to any additional threats as the regional security situation continues to develop.
