Iran-Oman Diplomatic Talks: Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has traveled to Oman following recent discussions in the country between Tehran and Washington over Iran’s nuclear program, according to Iranian state media.

Larijani, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is scheduled to meet Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, the main mediator in the talks, as well as Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, reported the state-run IRNA news agency on Tuesday.

The agency said that the visit would focus on “discussions over the latest regional and international developments” and explore “ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Iran and Oman.”

Al Jazeera correspondent Tohid Asadi, reporting from Tehran, noted that some analysts see the visit, coming shortly after the recent discussions, “as a positive sign indicating a sort of progress” in efforts to move the negotiations forward.

Oman as a Diplomatic Hub for Iran-US Nuclear Talks

Oman hosted the recent talks on Iran’s nuclear program last week, which aimed at preventing a potential conflict between Tehran and Washington amid rising regional tensions and an increased U.S. military presence. The discussions were part of broader diplomatic efforts in the region to avoid escalation.

A second round of these talks has been confirmed, although no specific date has yet been announced.

IRNA also reported on Tuesday that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has been conducting phone calls with his counterparts in Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia to update them on the latest developments in the Muscat negotiations with Washington.

These efforts reflect Tehran’s broader diplomatic approach to manage the nuclear issue while maintaining regional engagement and dialogue.
