Reports have emerged that Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, suffered injuries during the early stages of the recent military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel.

According to a source familiar with the situation cited by CNN, the Iranian leader sustained a fractured foot along with several minor injuries during the first day of the strikes. The injuries reportedly include a bruise around his left eye and small cuts on his face.

The development has sparked fresh speculation about the security situation surrounding Iran’s top leadership during the ongoing conflict. Iranian authorities, however, have not officially confirmed the reports about the injuries.

Iran US-Israel War Latest News: Was There an Assassination Attempt on Mojtaba Khamenei?

The reported injuries have intensified rumours that Mojtaba Khamenei may have been targeted in a possible assassination attempt.

An Israeli source earlier told CNN that the Iranian leader was hurt during an attempt on his life last week. That claim circulated widely on social media and in regional media outlets, although it remains unverified by official sources.

So far, Tehran has not issued any formal statement addressing the alleged assassination attempt or confirming whether the Supreme Leader was injured during the strikes.

The lack of official information has added to the uncertainty surrounding the condition and whereabouts of Iran’s new leader.

How Mojtaba Khamenei Became Iran’s Supreme Leader

The reported incident comes shortly after Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the country’s highest political and religious position.

The 56-year-old cleric was named Iran’s Supreme Leader on March 8, just days after the killing of his father, Ali Khamenei, who ruled the country for nearly four decades.

His appointment marked a significant shift in Iran’s political landscape during a period of heightened military confrontation in the region.

Despite taking the role, Mojtaba Khamenei has not yet delivered a public speech since his elevation to the position.

Mojtaba Khamenei’s Relationship With the IRGC

Analysts have long pointed to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a key power centre in Iran’s political system.

Reports suggest that Mojtaba Khamenei has maintained close ties with the powerful military organisation for many years.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) plays a major role not only in Iran’s defence structure but also in its economic and political networks. The organisation has publicly pledged its loyalty to the new Supreme Leader.

This backing is widely seen as an important factor in consolidating Mojtaba Khamenei’s authority during a turbulent period for the country.

Iran US-Israel War Latest News: Growing Uncertainty Over Iran’s Leadership During Conflict

The reports about the injuries have added to the uncertainty surrounding Iran’s leadership amid the escalating conflict involving the United States and Israel.

While details remain limited, the situation highlights the growing risks faced by senior political figures during military confrontations.

Observers say that confirmation of such an incident could have significant political implications inside Iran, particularly at a time when the country is navigating both internal leadership changes and external military pressure.

For now, officials in Tehran have remained silent about the reported injuries, leaving the international community closely watching for any confirmation or clarification from the Iranian government.
