Global leaders on Saturday strongly condemned the killing and arrest of protesters in Iran as nationwide unrest continues to shake the government. Several countries warned that the growing violence could push the situation toward a serious political crisis.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Australia, Canada, and the European Union praised the courage of Iranians and criticized the government’s harsh response.

“We commend the bravery of the Iranian people as they stand up for their dignity and their fundamental right to peaceful protest. We strongly condemn the killing of protestors, the use of violence, arbitrary arrests, and intimidation tactics by the Iranian regime against its own people,” the statement read.

The three powers urged Iran’s leaders to immediately stop using force and to respect the people’s right to speak freely and protest peacefully.

“Iran must immediately end the use of excessive and lethal force by its security forces including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Basij against protestors. Too many lives – over 40 to date – have already been lost. The Iranian regime has the responsibility to protect its own population and must allow for the freedom of expression and peaceful assembly without fear of reprisal,” the statement added.

On social media, netizens are commending Iran protest and sharing videos. They are supporting.

Protests Spread Across Iran as Security Forces Step In

Analysts in Israel warned that the crisis in Iran has reached a turning point and could seriously threaten the current leadership. Reports say more than one million people have taken to the streets across different regions, while security forces, including the Revolutionary Guards, have begun stronger efforts to suppress the demonstrations.

Medical workers in Tehran also described a growing humanitarian emergency. One Iranian doctor, who spoke anonymously, said that six hospitals in the capital alone recorded at least 217 protester deaths. “most by live ammunition.”

Internet Shutdown Across the country Raises Alarm in Iran

As the protests intensified, authorities shut down internet access across Iran, cutting off millions from the outside world. Iranian journalist and activist Masih Alinejad shared videos she said came from inside the country and explained how critical internet access is to the movement.

“It’s been over 24 hours now that the dictator of Iran has shut down internet connections for 90 million Iranians. Internet access is the lifeline of Iran uprising and by making Starlink services available for Iranian revolutionaries, Elon Musk has made a crucial and indispensable contribution to the fight for democracy in Iran.”

Netblocks, a group that monitors global internet freedom, confirmed that Iran’s digital blackout had reduced connectivity to just 1% of normal levels.

“It has now been 24 hours since Iran implemented a nationwide internet shutdown, with connectivity flat lining at 1% of ordinary levels. The ongoing digital blackout violates the fundamental rights and liberties of Iranians while masking regime violence.”

Exiled Crown Prince Calls for Global Action

Iran’s exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi urged Iranians living abroad to step up their efforts and help keep the world focused on what is happening inside the country. In a video message posted on X, he asked the diaspora to stay active and connected.

“I have a message for our compatriots in the diaspora. At this moment, you can play a critical role. More important than anything at this time is the continuation of protests in your host countries and major cities and also sharing information with political, governmental, and media entities. You should get in touch with them however you can, via phone or email. The continuation of this coverage of Iran will ensure Iranians are a priority and are not forgotten.”

He said global attention will give courage to people inside Iran and keep their struggle alive.

“We must not allow this voice to be silenced on the international level. They must know the people of Iran, despite all of the limitations placed on them, with remarkable courage, are continuing the fight. And Iranians inside will see you are working alongside them and will be energized.”

Pahlavi ended his message with a call for unity. “Let us, at this time, work hand in hand to deal the final blow to the regime, achieve freedom, and rebuild our country.”

Trump Issues Warning as Crisis Deepens

US President Donald Trump said the situation in Iran is being closely watched. He warned that Washington would step in if protesters continue to be killed and said the US would strike the country “where it hurts.”

The demonstrations reached their thirteenth day on Friday. What began as anger over rising living costs has now grown into a nationwide demand to end the political system that has ruled Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

With streets still filled with protesters, security forces on alert, and the internet cut off, Iran remains on edge as the confrontation between citizens and the government continues to escalate.
