Israel-Iran Latest News: The Middle East war is intensified by the US-Israel attack on Iran and the retaliation of Iran on the Gulf countries. The United Arab Emirates is now caught in the middle of the fight with drones and missiles striking Dubai and Abu Dhabi, leaving the UAE wondering what they will do next in the emerging geopolitical crisis.
It has been reported that the UAE is evaluating its military stance whereby it is deliberating on defensive mechanisms to defend its land against the persistent Iranian assaults. Axios confirmed reports that more than 800 projectiles were fired at the UAE, but the governments confirm that no UAE soil will be used to fire offensive attacks. The minister of international cooperation Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy stressed that the country had a right to defend itself according to the international law and that the state should restrain military action.
There has been damage in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as demonstrated by satellite images and AFP reports due to Iranian missile and drone attacks. The major cities, such as ports, airbases and business districts, were impacted and it was reported by the UAE Defence Ministry that 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles and 541 drones were intercepted. A fellow Indian citizen had been hurt and this brought attention to the dangers facing expatriates as violence continued to rise.
The actions of Iran in attacking the Gulf states have elicited the wrath of the other states in the region. Qatar accused Tehran of crossing all red lines and such strikes cannot remain unpunished. Authorities within the UAE have also called on the Iranian government to tone down its activities indicating that further attacks on non-combatant nations might lead to retaliation.
The Gulf shipping routes were extremely vulnerable with a tanker said to pass the Strait of Hormuz to the UAE and despite the ongoing conflict.
