Jeffrey Epstein Case Latest Update: Lesley Groff to Appear in Congress
Lesley Groff, the former executive assistant of disgraced financier will soon be summoned by the US Congress to give her testimony. It is important to note that her name emerged in the Epstein files more than 160,000 times. Hence, the lawmakers believe that she could reveal key details about what happened.
Who is Lesley Groff?
Lesley Groff served as the assistant of financier Jeffrey Epstein for almost 20 years, from 2001 to 2019. In 2007, she was a possible co‑conspirator in Epstein’s plea deal but granted immunity. She was a central figure in his life and played many responsibilities such as managing his household, organising his schedule, booking massages and more. As a result, the extent of her involvement has raised eyebrows.
The House Committee’s Remarks
Democrat Robert Garcia, who serves on the House committee, described Groff as “really central to Epstein’s organisation; we want to know what she saw”. While fellow Yassamin Ansari also spoke about how important Groff’s role could be.
“She managed every aspect of Jeffrey’s life for around 18 years. And she was the one setting up appointments with all of these girls to provide massages. I wanna know everything that she has to share”, Ansari said to reporters.
About the Jeffrey Epstein Case
From 2007 to 2008, authorities launched a major case against financier Jeffrey Epstein. However, he only served in jail for 18 months and subsequently secured immunity for himself as well as his close allies.
Then in 2019, Epstein was arrested on charges of sex trafficking but passed away in jail, allegedly from suicide. Last November, President Donald Trump passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, requiring the Department of Justice to make everything public. Soon after, the US Congress’s House Committee intensified their investigation.
In previous hearings, survivors including Roza, Dani Hannah Bensky, Courtney Wild, Jena‑Lisa Jones and Virginia Giuffre’s brother Sky Roberts testified. Most notably, former US president Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton also gave their testimony in a gruelling 7 hour session.
