M27 Crash Latest News Today (July 15): Motorists travelling on the M27 in Hampshire faced major disruption on Tuesday, July 15, after separate crashes on both the westbound and eastbound carriageways caused lane closures, long queues and delays.

The main incident, involving a car and a motorcycle near Hedge End, prompted an emergency response, and traffic was temporarily held while crews cleared the scene. Although the motorway has now reopened, congestion continues to affect journeys across the region.

Traffic came to a standstill after a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the westbound M27 between Junction 7 (Hedge End) and Junction 5 (Southampton). Emergency services rushed to the scene, and several lanes were closed while police and recovery teams responded.

At the same time, a separate multi-vehicle collision on the eastbound carriageway near Southampton added to delays, creating widespread congestion on one of Hampshire’s busiest motorways.

M27 Crash Latest News Today (July 15): Where Did the Crash Happen?

The main collision occurred on the M27 westbound between Junction 7 (Hedge End) and Junction 5 (Southampton), close to Southampton Airport. A separate crash was reported on the M27 eastbound between Junction 3 (M271) and Junction 4 (M3) near Southampton.

Another road traffic collision involving a bus and a car also affected the A31 near Ringwood, causing delays in both directions.

According to National Highways, the westbound collision involved:

The collisions caused severe traffic disruption across Hampshire.

Westbound delays reached more than 90 minutes, with queues stretching several miles between Junction 9 and Junction 5. Average vehicle speeds dropped to around 5 mph during the busiest period.

Eastbound motorists also experienced delays of around 45 minutes, while congestion extended back towards Junction 2.

Traffic conditions are gradually improving, but delays may continue as traffic clears.

During the emergency response, lanes three and four on the westbound carriageway between Junction 7 and Junction 5 were closed.
