After the results of the Maine Primary election, Graham Platner from the Democratic party has officially won. Platner defeated Maine governor Janet Mills by a massive margin of 71.8%. Now, he is all set to face Republican senator Susan Mills in November.
After the formal declaration of results, Platner expressed gratitude to his supporters. “If you believe, as I do, that we can change our politics and our country, then you must also believe that people can change. The reason I believe that is because I have lived it,”, he said.

Ahead of the official primary elections, Democrat candidate Graham Platner found himself in multiple controversies. According to multiple reports, Platner sported a Swastika tattoo on his chest, which led to allegations of antisemitism.
Meanwhile, one of Platner’s ex girlfriends alleged that he “regularly grabbed her by the shoulders – sometimes hard enough to leave marks – and, on one occasion, yanked her out of a cab by her wrist after an argument when she wanted to stay in the car”. Platner also shared sexually explicit texts to multiple women, despite being married.
Platner admitted to the infidelity and the sexting, stating “My wife went through something hard – because of me”. He also claimed to cover up the controversial Swastika tattoo on his chest.
