Mexico Highway Crash Latest News: Multi Vehicle Highway Crash in Western Mexico Causes 9 Deaths & Injures 10; Probe Underway

This morning, a cargo truck slammed into multiple vehicles in Northern Mexico. The subsequent crash led to 9 deaths and 10 people getting injured.  A probe has been launched.

Mexico Highway Crash Latest News: What Happened in Jalisco? 

This morning, a cargo truck rammed into multiple vehicles on a highway connecting Guadalajara and Tepic in Jalisco, Northern Mexico. 

As a result, 9 people died and 10 got injured. Social media clips from the site showed multiple vehicles in flames. The highway, had already witnessed another road accident, due to traffic.   

Mexico Highway Crash Latest News: Who are the Victims? 

The identities of the 9 victims who died have not been publicly disclosed. But from the casualties, at least 2 were minors. 4 American tourists and two National Guard Officers got injured. While the remaining 4 include highway road crew workers and civilian passengers. 

Mexico Highway Crash Latest News: Mexican Authorities Response 

Jalisco’s Civil Protection agency confirmed the accident and shared that the truck rammed into stationary vehicles. It also stated that one patrol vehicle belonging to the Mexican National Guard was damaged. The two National Guard Officers are reportedly in serious condition and got rushed to the Magdalena hospital in Guadalajara.  

Mexico Highway Crash Latest News: Investigation Update 

After the fatal car crash, the Mexican National Guard and local law enforcement quickly secured the site of the crash. The culprit was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s office. A full forensic investigation is now underway.
