This morning, the team of Kentucky senator Mitch McConnell posted an online update. The image featured McConnell from his hospital room and was issued as a ‘‘proof-of-life’’ image to dispel internet rumors following his weeks-long absence from the public eye.
It features Mitch McConnell with a physician attending to him. The senator’s team also shared that he has now been transferred to a rehabilitation center for further recovery. Details of where he was hospitalised have not been disclosed to the public.

James Tate, an American conspiracy theorist analysed the newly released image of Senator McConnell and flagged some suspicious details.
Tate found it strange that McConnell looked “camera-ready” in his usual jeans and red checkered shirt after weeks in hospital, but clearly stated he wasn’t confirming anything: “I’m not declaring the photo AI. I’m not declaring it Photoshopped.”
He compared the image to a ‘What’s Wrong With This Picture?’ and also specified other sketchy details like the IV setup, the seemingly full bag that didn’t seem connected to McConnell along with extra hand sanitizer dispensers , oddly placed medical equipment, and glasses reflections that don’t match the room’s lighting.
Several other users agreed with the analysis of Tate, with one saying My question: how did he get several years younger in this picture?”. While another pointed out that “Um…plus he looks 20 years younger in this pic than pics we’ve seen of him lately. Plus, if he can stand and walk, he can show up for work so we can all be proved wrong”.
A third netizen tried to imply that McConnell is dead, a hoax that has persisted for several weeks now. “Dude isn’t with us anymore. They are going to hide it as long as possible to preserve his vote in the senate,”, they wrote.

Kentucky governor Andy Beshear also participated in the rumours of Mitch McConnell’s health. Beshear stated that he recently got calls from 2 separate agencies that claimed McConnell is dead and didn’t elaborate further.
