Nancy Guthrie Case Latest News Today: The case involving Nancy Guthrie is entering yet another stage that leaves one feeling uneasy due to the claims made by a private investigator who says that he had a conversation with the neighbors of the daughter of Nancy Guthrie, namely Annie Guthrie and her husband Tommaso Cioni. It is also reported that the FBI visited their neighborhood, though this has not been verified.

Eighty-four-year-old Nancy Guthrie was last seen around her home in Catalina Foothills, Tucson, Arizona, on January 31, 2026 and she is believed to be missing as of February 1, 2026. According to the FBI, she is considered a vulnerable adult and there is an offer of up to $100,000 for her whereabouts.

According to the report written online by Jonathan Lee Riches, who is popularly known as JLR, the neighbor reported that she had never seen Annie and Tommaso until Nancy went missing but saw Tommaso take out garbage and recycling materials more than once. JLR also stated that the couple was gone from the property since May and that there were different ways of dealing with the mail when they were gone.

The most important information in this article relates to a reported visit from the FBI. According to JLR, his neighbor reported that the agents asked her if they had spoken to Annie and Tommaso and asked her if she had seen any items disposed of in the backyard. Moreover, JLR stated that the agents searched the backyard however, the FBI has not released any statement confirming the occurrence of this particular interview or search.

Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a report of human remains near West Ajo Way and South La Cholla Boulevard in southwest Tucson. The location is approximately 15 miles from Guthrie’s residence while authorities said the remains appeared to have been at the site for a considerable period. Officials have not identified the person whose remains were found and they have also not announced any forensic evidence connecting the discovery to Guthrie. For now, investigators are treating the discovery as a separate matter while the Nancy Guthrie investigation continues.

The first ransom letter demanded $4 million in bitcoin, which went up to $6 million within three days while in another ransom note, it was claimed that Nancy was dead and had been buried in the wilderness. Human remains found in the desert region, 15 miles away from Nancy’s home, created much speculation.

Two ransom letters were dropped by investigators at the end of July in an attempt to get some fresh clues. The first letter asked for $4 million in cryptocurrency, adding that Guthrie’s life would be endangered if the ransom demand wasn’t met while a second ransom letter said that Guthrie had died shortly after she went missing. “We never meant to harm her, that was never our intention. She died shortly after she was taken.”

It also claimed, “She is buried in nature now.” Authorities released the notes because they believe the writing may contain distinctive linguistic patterns that someone familiar with the author could recognise.

Nancy Guthrie’s death has yet to be verified while officially, Guthrie is still listed as being missing, and there is no official verification from the investigators regarding the discovery of a set of human remains being those of Nancy Guthrie. 

There was even a second ransom letter issued by the authorities stating that Nancy Guthrie was dead and only kidnapped for ransom, but there has been no verification regarding the claim. The FBI has also maintained that the investigation is still about kidnapping for ransom.
