Nancy Guthrie Case Latest Update: Ex Cop Believes Coral Michelle Smith Could Have A Role in the Disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s Mother

An ex cop has stated Coral Michelle Smith, a 40-year-old woman wanted in connection with a kidnapping investigation, might be involved in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. Smith has previously been accused of kidnapping, assault, robbery, and disorderly conduct and served four separate prison sentences.

Nancy Guthrie Case Latest Update:The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie’s 84 year old mother continues to spark curiosity among authorities, the media and netizens. Recently, a woman, Coral Michelle Smith was arrested on aggravated assault and kidnapping charges. Now, an ex cop has stated that he believes she might be involved. 

Nancy Guthrie Case Latest Update: Who is Coral Michelle Smith? 

Coral Michelle Smith is a 40 year old criminal from Arizona. She is wanted by the Pima County Sheriff Department on charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping. Her aliases include ‘Under the Sea Smith,’ and ‘Corral Albright’.

Smith has previously been accused of kidnapping, assault, robbery, and disorderly conduct and has served four separate prison sentences. 

Nancy Guthrie Case Latest Update: Could Coral Michelle Smith Be Involved in the Case? 

A retired cop, Chris McDonough has admitted that Coral Michelle Smith might be involved in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. “In any major missing person or abduction-type of investigation, the investigators are going to cast a wide net”, he said, with focus on those with “violent kidnapping history.”

He then added “This would be a very standard protocol to try to find Smith and see if they can connect her in any way, shape or form to Nancy’s case”.  

Nancy Guthrie Case: What’s the Evidence So Far

  • Blood samples found on the porch and on the street leading to her home. 

  • Multiple surveillance videos that police found from the neighbourhood and places near Nancy’s home. 

  • The doorbell video footage, which featured a masked assailant approaching her home. 

  • A single strand of hair that was recovered from her home.

  • Signs of forced entry into her home.

Nancy Guthrie Case: Who are the Suspects? 

So, far Coral Michelle Smith is the only suspect that has been officially wanted. But cops are also looking for an unidentified masked man, who was caught tampering with Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell camera. 

And two days ago, the Pima County Sheriff Department arrested three social media streamers Alexander Zabel (54), Todd Enderle (46), and Troy Lewis Bradshaw for creating a public nuisance in the neighbourhood. Some people have suggested that Nancy Guthrie’s absconding son in law, Tommaso Cioni might be involved. 

Nancy Guthrie Case Latest Update: Investigation Update

Chris Nanos from the Pima County Sheriff Department announced that he will crack down on unlawful behaviour. Nanos’ decision comes after repeated complaints from residents in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood, where Nancy lived.   

Nanos said “We are now into the fifth month of this, and we started getting calls from the neighbors about a certain group of these I’ll use the word YouTubers”. He then added “The complaints got to be pretty egregious in that the behavior of those individuals was becoming pretty scary and frightful to the neighborhood.”

  • 31st January, 2026: Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona.

  • 1st February, 2026: She was officially reported missing after failing to make contact.

  • Early Feb 2026: Police launched a large search operation and FBI joined investigation.

  • First week of Feb 2026: Surveillance footage from nearby areas and intersections collected.

  • Mid Feb 2026: A masked individual seen near her home was initially flagged and later ruled unrelated.

  • Late Feb 2026: Authorities confirmed signs suggesting possible abduction.

  • March 2026: Genetic genealogy testing introduced to analyze unidentified DNA samples.

  • April–May 2026: Investigation expanded to thousands of videos, traffic cams and Ring footage; no suspect identified yet.

  • 3rd June 2026: Forensic veteran Barbara Butcher suggested that a local who suspected the family’s wealth might be involved. 

  • 8th June 2026: Savannah Guthrie admits on air that she struggles to “hold it together.”

  • 10th June 2026: Wanted fugitive Coral Michelle Smith named as a suspect in the case.
