Nancy  Guthrie Latest News: More than five months after Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Arizona home, a retired FBI agent has renewed calls for investigators to widen their search efforts instead of slowing down the investigation. Jennifer Coffindaffer, a former FBI special agent, pointed to a decades-old missing person’s case that ended in a murder conviction after human remains were discovered in a remote desert area. She believes the same approach could help uncover new evidence in the ongoing search for the 84-year-old mother of NBC Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.

Nancy  Guthrie Latest News: Retired FBI Agent Draws Comparison With Decades-Old Missing Person Case

Former FBI special agent Jennifer Coffindaffer shared a post on X urging authorities not to abandon search efforts in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

She compared the case to that of Thelma Gaston, an elderly millionaire who disappeared more than four decades ago, before investigators eventually found her remains in a remote area.

Sharing photos of both women, Coffindaffer wrote, “Thelma Gaston/Nancy Guthrie.”

She then highlighted how Gaston’s case remained unsolved for decades before investigators finally identified her remains.

“Thelma was a millionaire who went missing 40 years ago when she was 80 YO. Her remains were finally found near Sugarloaf Mountain in a desolate area.”

She added, “She was murdered by her paramour, Lawrence Remsen, who received life for killing her.”

Nancy  Guthrie Latest News: Agent Calls for Expanded Desert Search

Based on the similarities between the two disappearances, Coffindaffer urged investigators to continue searching remote desert locations in Arizona.

She wrote, “This is exactly why searches need to be conducted for Nancy. Unless they know where she is — search that desert.”

The former FBI agent believes authorities should continue ground searches until investigators determine exactly what happened to Nancy Guthrie.

Nancy  Guthrie Latest News: Previous Recommendations to Investigators

This is not the first time Coffindaffer has publicly commented on the investigation.

Earlier, she suggested that investigators should:

  • Update public billboards with clearer images of the unidentified “Porch Guy” seen in surveillance footage.
  • Deposit money into the Bitcoin wallet linked to ransom demands in an effort to generate investigative leads.
  • Increase the reward offered for information leading to Nancy’s safe return.

She has repeatedly argued that investigators should continue exploring every possible lead.

Nancy  Guthrie Latest News: Nancy Guthrie Has Been Missing Since February

Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her home in Catalina Foothills, Tucson, Arizona, after she was last seen on the evening of January 31. Authorities believe she was abducted on February 1, and the case has remained unsolved despite months of investigation.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI continue to investigate the disappearance.

NBC Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie has offered a $1 million reward, in addition to existing reward funds, for information leading to her mother’s recovery.

No arrests have been made, and investigators have not publicly identified a suspect.

Nancy  Guthrie Latest News: Cold Case Discovery Inspires New Appeal

Coffindaffer referred to the investigation into Thelma Gaston, whose remains were identified decades after she disappeared in 1981 through advances in DNA technology.

The case ultimately led to the conviction of Lawrence Remsen, who received a life sentence for her murder.

The retired FBI agent believes the discovery demonstrates why investigators should continue searching remote areas, even when a case appears to have gone cold.

Nancy  Guthrie Latest News: Investigation Remains Active

Authorities have not announced any breakthroughs in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. Investigators continue to examine available evidence while urging anyone with information to come forward.

As public attention gradually shifts elsewhere, Coffindaffer has stressed that continued search efforts remain essential until investigators determine Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts.
