Next Full Solar Eclipse in World: The next total solar eclipse in the world will occur on August 2, 2027. It will feature an exceptionally long duration of totality (up to 6 minutes and 22 seconds) and will be visible across southern Spain, North Africa, and parts of the Middle East. Here’s everything you need to know about the next full solar eclipse in the world: date, time, visibility, and more.

Next Full Solar Eclipse in World: Key Dates

The next full (total) solar eclipse in the world will occur on August 2, 2027. However, the dates of the next full solar eclipse differ country-to-country.

Next Full Solar Eclipse in World: Key Timings

The next full total solar eclipse on August 2, 2027, will begin its journey over the Atlantic Ocean and progress eastward across Southern Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. The overall global event spans from 08:50 UTC to 12:43 UTC, with maximum eclipse occurring at 10:47 UTC.

Next Full Solar Eclipse in US

The next total solar eclipse visible in the United States will occur on March 30, 2033, but totality will be visible only in Alaska. If you are waiting for a total solar eclipse in the contiguous United States (the lower 48 states), you will have to wait until August 22, 2044.

Only three states will experience totality on August 22, 2044: Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

The Next Major Coast-to-Coast U.S. Eclipse will be on August 12, 2045, and the path of totality will be over California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.

Next Full Solar Eclipse in Saudi Arabia

The next total solar eclipse in Saudi Arabia will occur on August 2, 2027. This will be a historic astronomical milestone for the region, marking the first major total solar eclipse visible from western Saudi Arabia since 1905.

As the path crosses the country during the early afternoon, observers will experience an exceptionally long duration of totality under highly favorable, clear desert skies.

The total eclipse phase will sweep across Saudi territory between 1:21 PM AST and 1:44 PM AST.

However, on March 20, 2034, the total eclipse path will cut across central and eastern Saudi Arabia, bringing up to 4 minutes and 9 seconds of totality.

Next Full Solar Eclipse in Yemen

The next total solar eclipse in Yemen will occur on August 2, 2027. This eclipse is highly anticipated because the desert climate offers an almost 100% chance of clear skies. The moon’s shadow will enter Yemen from the Red Sea and sweep southeast across the country before heading out into the Indian Ocean.

The total eclipse phase will pass over Yemen between 1:41 PM AST and 1:47 PM AST.

Areas in eastern Yemen, such as Mukalla, sit just outside the path of totality. They will still experience a dramatic partial eclipse, with the moon blocking over 95% of the sun’s surface.

However, Yemen will not experience another total solar eclipse until April 30, 2060.

Next Full Solar Eclipse in Australia

The next total solar eclipse in Australia will occur on July 22, 2028. This will be a massive astronomical event for the country, as the path of totality cuts directly across the continent from the northwest coast all the way to the southeast, passing directly over Sydney.

Major cities outside the path of totality will still see a significant partial eclipse:

  • Brisbane: ~80% coverage of the sun.

  • Melbourne: ~75% coverage of the sun.

  • Adelaide: ~65% coverage of the sun.

  • Perth: ~25% coverage of the sun.

Australia is entering an unprecedented “golden age” for total solar eclipses, hosting four more over the next two decades:

  • November 25, 2030: Crosses South Australia, New South Wales, and Queensland.

  • November 14, 2037: Crosses Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria (including Melbourne), and New South Wales.

  • December 26, 2038: Crosses Western Australia, South Australia, and New South Wales.

  • December 26, 2066: Crosses the southern coastline of Australia.

Total solar eclipses are rare global events that move across different continents each year.
