Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc. is voluntarily recalling a limited number of Outshine Fruit Bars after identifying the possible presence of glass in select batches, the company announced in a statement issued on 16th August. The recall covers five flavours: Strawberry, Watermelon, Grape, Tangerine and Black Cherry, all sold in 6-count, 2.5-ounce paddle bar packaging. The affected lots were distributed to retailers across the US, the company confirmed, though it stressed that no other Outshine products or varieties are involved.

The Walnut Creek, California-headquartered manufacturer has not detailed the precise cause of the possible glass contamination, saying only that the recall was issued “due to possible foreign material contamination with glass.” “The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our highest priority,” the company said in its press release. “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this action may cause our consumers and retail customers, and remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality and to earning the trust of our customers every day.”

No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the recall, according to the company, though it acknowledged receiving a small number of consumer complaints. Anyone who suspects they have suffered an injury from consuming the product has been advised to contact a healthcare provider immediately. Swallowing hard or sharp foreign material can pose a risk to teeth, mouth, throat, stomach or intestinal tissue.

This marks the second Outshine recall in as many years, after a 2023 incident involving an undeclared milk allergen in the brand’s No Sugar Added Strawberry line, which affected retailers in fourteen US states.
