Peskov initially rejected the characterisation, saying Russia had not struck “everything and anything,” but then argued that Moscow began doing so after Ukraine had “opened Pandora’s box” with its own attacks.

Russia-Ukraine War Latest News: Kyiv Preparing for October Peace Talks With Russia and US, Ukrainian Official Says

Ukraine is preparing for a possible resumption of three-way negotiations with Russia and the United States in October, according to Ukrainian officials.

Kyrylo Budanov, a senior Ukrainian official, said Kyiv was getting ready for the possibility of renewed talks aimed at finding a path toward ending the war, now in its fifth year.

His comments came days after US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner held discussions in both Moscow and Kyiv, marking Witkoff’s first visit to Moscow since February and the first trip to the Ukrainian capital.

The most recent three-way meeting was held in Geneva in February. US-led diplomatic efforts later lost momentum as Washington turned its attention to the conflict with Iran.

Witkoff said following his visits that there was renewed momentum toward advancing negotiations. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also said Moscow had not ruled out restarting peace talks, although he cautioned that it was still too early to determine when or where the next meeting could take place.
