The facility, owned by Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal’s ArcelorMittal, subsequently announced a partial suspension of operations. According to reports, the attack damaged infrastructure associated with the plant’s energy supply as well as facilities supporting blast furnace operations. The company said search-and-rescue operations were underway following the attack, with firefighters, rescue personnel and medical teams deployed at the site.

The market, which has operated since the 1990s, is regarded as one of Kyiv’s oldest and largest book markets. Other parts of the capital were also affected. Fires and structural damage were reported in areas of the Holosiivskyi district, adding to the destruction caused by the latest wave of attacks.
