Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky described yesterday's Russian strike on Kyiv as one of the largest ballistic missile attacks on the capital and said nearly 600 emergency responders had been deployed to rescue and relief operations across the city.

Russia Ukraine War Latest News: Kremlin Strikes on Cargo Ships in Black Sea Kill 5

This morning, the Kremlin struck an international vessel that departed from the coast of Ukraine’s Odesa. The attack led to 5 casualties of crew members, while 8 were rescued from the burning vessel. 5 passengers are still feared missing, according to Ukrainian officials. 

The country’s new Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi confirmed the strike and shared that the Guinea-Bissau-flagged ship had left port loaded with corn and was carrying a crew of ​17 sailors from India and Syria, in addition ​to one Ukrainian. 

Acting foreign minister Andrii Sybiha slammed the strike in a post on X (formerly Twitter).  “A civilian ship. An international crew. A route serving global food security. Putin saw another target. This attack leaves no room for illusions. Putin’s Russia does ​not care whom it kills”, the post said. 

Russia Ukraine War Latest News: Putin Meets With North Korean Foreign Minister 

Russia and North Korea share a tight alliance, with the latter supporting on the warfront. However, NK has lost quite a few troops in the war, which caused some to question whether there’ll be any cracks in the ties. 

But that’s not the case as Russian president Vladimir Putin met with Choe Sun Hui, the foreign minister of North Korea this morning. The surprise visit happened at the palatial Kremlin complex in Moscow. 

Russian media has suggested that Hui came at the invitation of foreign minister Sergey Lavrov. While others believe that she might co-ordinate a potential bilateral trip for Putin, who previously visited in 2024 and received a warm welcome.   

During the meeting, Putin expressed his “gratitude to the North Korean leadership and people” for supporting his military operations against Ukraine to Choe. While she told Putin that Kim remains committed to the “comprehensive development” of relations with Russia, as per Tass, Russia’s biggest news agency. 

According to data from the Ukrainian military’s intelligence unit shared last month, the majority of the casualties happened in Russia’s Kursk oblast, with 50% of North Korea’s deployed troops either dead, injured or captured . Putin and Kim Jong Un signed the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement in 2024. 

Russia Ukraine War Latest News: Did Ukraine Hit Russian Oil Tankers? 

According to multiple reports, the Ukrainian troops deliberately targeted 2 Russian oil tankers at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium terminal off Russia’s Black Sea coast near the Novorossiysk city. Subsequently, the Caspian Oil Consortium (CPC) suspended all oil leadings at the site. It then added that no casualties or oil spills were reported, and the tankers – sailing under the flags of Liberia and the Marshall Islands respectively remained afloat. The CPC has not held anyone responsible for the attack yet.  

Russia Ukraine War Latest News: Chilling Details From Kremlin’s Kyiv Strike Disclosed 

Yesterday, the Kremlin unleashed another ballistic missiles on Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital. Preliminary estimates suggested that the strike killed 1 and injured 13. However, the death poll has now risen to 6. It has now been shared that Russia used 40 missiles and 120 drones during that strike and began at around 1:30 AM local time. Zelensky has described it as one of the largest ballistic missile attacks on the capital and said nearly 600 emergency responders had been deployed to rescue and relief operations across the city.
