In recent months, Eastern Ukraine’s regions have become a key target of Russia. According to a statement by the country’s defence ministry, Kremlin troops have successfully seized 2 settlements in the Donetsk region. According to unofficial statements, Russian troops now have control of more than 80% of the territory in Donetsk oblast.
Russia Ukraine War Latest News: Zelensky Attends Reburial Ceremony of Prominent Leader
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky recently attended the reburial ceremony for Yevhen Konovalets, one of founders and leaders of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). At the ceremony, Zelensky paid tribute to Konovalets, calling him an “outstanding son of the Ukrainian people”. The colonel’s remains were recently repatriated to Ukraine from the Netherlands.
Russia Ukraine War Latest Update: What Happened in Moscow?
For the second consecutive night, Ukrainian forces launched a massive drone attack on the Moscow region. The attack, which involved 620 drones, is the biggest one reported from the Russian capital region in two years.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that Russian air defences and electronic warfare units successfully managed to directly destroy 180 of the 620 drones heading for the capital. According to Andrey Vorobov, the Moscow region’s governor, 3 people got injured in the attack. 1 home in the Pavlovsky Posad district completely burned down. No casualties have been reported yet.
Debris from the drone strike also struck one Wildberries warehouse, located east of Moscow. “The company’s logistics complex in the Moscow region sustained minor damage as a result of the attack. Debris hit the wall of the building,” the Russian retail giant shared in a statement.
Russia Ukraine War Latest Update: Russia, UK Exchange Verbal Attacks
A prominent British newspaper recently reported that drones produced by two British companies had been used by Kyiv to hit military and industrial targets inside Russian territory. Russia responded to that bombshell report earlier today & slammed the UK, a key Ukraine ally.
It accused the UK of “deliberately opting for an escalation of the Ukraine crisis” & and then issued a shocking threat.”London’s actions will inevitably carry consequences for which it will have to answer,” the Kremlin’s threat stated.
A spokesperson for the British government’s Ministry of Defence responded to the threat issued by Russia & spoke to BBC News. The spokesperson reaffirmed that London stands ‘shoulder to shoulder’ with Kyiv.
They also warned Russia to not underestimate its pro Ukraine stance in the ongoing war. “Russia should be in no doubt about the resolve of this Government to stand against Russian aggression, in Ukraine and against the UK and our allies,” the spokesperson stated.
