Russia Ukraine War Latest News: Senior VEB Banker Fired After Predicting Defeat for Russia
Last month, Andrei Klepach, a senior banker & one of the most renowned Russian economists, made some concerning remarks with regards to the war in May during a meeting at the Moscow Exchange’s Nikitsky Club. Most notably, he cautioned that a victory for Russia in the ongoing war against Ukraine is unlikely.
“We will not win the competition in this war of attrition. We have the illusion that everything there (in Ukraine) will collapse. It has not collapsed and will not collapse. Our costs are mounting,” he said, at the time.
Klepach pointed out how the war is negatively affecting Russia’s economy. “We are falling behind. We are losing both the technological and economic competition in the world”, he said.
Now, VEB has released a written statement confirming that Klepach has been terminated from his role. The senior banker also confirmed the same to news agency Reuters.
Russia Ukraine War Latest News: Kremlin Attacks Shopping Centre in Odesa
Ukrainian authorities have claimed that Russia attacked a post office in a shopping centre in Odesa with a jet-powered drone earlier today. Odeh Klipeh, the oblast’s governor shared the news via a Telegram message which stated “A civilian vessel under the flag of the Republic of Togo was damaged,” . The attack injured 4 people, who are currently receiving medical treatment. No casualties have een reported yet.

Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for Russia’s foreign ministr recently shared that her country demanded answers from US & Turkey over reports of a possible transfer of a ‘substantial arsenal’ of US weapons that are currently stored in Turkey.
She cautioned that such a transfer would lead to “serious harm … to our bilateral relations with Washington and Ankara”. Neither country has responded to Russia’s shocking allegation. But Ankara previously pressed Kyiv & Moscow to declare a moratorium on all Black Sea attacks.

Ukrainian long-range forces struck Russia’s Savasleyka military airbase in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia during an overnight attack. : Savasleyka is a primary base for Russian MiG-31K fighter jets, which are used to launch ballistic missiles. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the strike. No casualties or injuries have been reported yet.

A Russian missile strike heavily damaged the ArcelorMittal steel plant in Kryvyi Rih, a facility owned by Indian-origin billionaire Lakshmi Mittal. The attack caused 2 casualties & injured 14. It also caused critical energy-production units and blast-furnace facilities.due to which all production processes were partially halted for some time. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih issued a statement confirming that technical specialists are currently checking the extent of damage caused.
