Russia-Ukraine War Latest News: The possibility of a direct meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy appeared to offer a fresh route toward ending the Russia-Ukraine war for a moment. “What is this letter about?” Putin asked. “Is it a means to create an environment for a personal meeting? Or is it meant to make sure no personal meeting takes place? I think it’s the second.”
The Russian president has previously indicated that Moscow wants experts to work out possible agreements before the two leaders meet, suggesting that a summit should follow progress in negotiations rather than begin them.

Putin also insisted that Russia would continue its military campaign while pursuing what Moscow describes as its objectives in Ukraine.

Zelenskyy responded to Putin’s rejection by accusing the Russian leadership of showing little interest in ending the conflict.

The Ukrainian president also indicated that Putin’s answer would disappoint governments and countries that hoped diplomacy could restart.
