Victoria Police detectives have travelled to New South Wales to question four men as part of an investigation into alleged sexual assault involving players from the Sydney Swans. The interviews were conducted by detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad and have now concluded. Police said the investigation remains active and that they do not expect to issue another update for approximately eight weeks.

Investigators spoke with four men from Sydney:
•   A 26-year-old man from Randwick
•   A 30-year-old man from Maroubra
•   A 25-year-old man from Randwick
•   A 25-year-old man from Paddington
Police are also dealing with three other men believed to have been present at the hotel. Those individuals are being treated as witnesses at this stage.
What Happened At The Melbourne Hotel?
The investigation centres on an alleged incident at the Pullman Hotel in East Melbourne during the early hours of August 17. It is understood that several Sydney Swans players were at the hotel with adult entertainers following the team’s round 23 match against Essendon. Three women later reported the matter to police. Authorities have said they believe they have now identified everyone who was in the room at the time of the alleged incident.
Have Any Sydney Swans Players Been Charged?
No arrests have been made and no charges have been laid in connection with the investigation. The club previously stood down five players, Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner, James Jordan, Riley Bice and Nick Blakey over breaches of its standards relating to drinking and bringing women back to the hotel.
The police investigation is separate from the club’s internal disciplinary action.
What Happens Next?
Victoria Police said detectives will continue investigating the allegations and assessing the available evidence. Meanwhile, two law firms are representing three women who are considering potential civil proceedings. Their lawyers have previously said the women have experienced significant stress and anxiety and may seek damages.
Police have indicated that further updates are unlikely for around eight weeks.
