Andrew and Tristan Tate, the self-styled “manosphere” influencers who built online empires on hypermasculinity, were arrested by US Marshals in Miami on Saturday just hours after British prosecutors announced a sweeping expansion of the criminal case against them, bringing the total number of charges to 59 and formally seeking their extradition to the United Kingdom.
Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, were taken into custody in Miami on Saturday after US Marshals executed a sealed warrant tied to extradition proceedings, according to the Justice Department.
“Today, US Marshals in the Southern District of Florida arrested Andrew and Tristan Tate pursuant to extradition proceedings,” a Justice Department spokesperson said. “These arrests were made in accordance with the treaties and law enforcement agreements governing Justice Department extraditions.” Photos and video that circulated online appeared to show federal agents handcuffing the brothers outside the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami, where Andrew Tate had been scheduled to appear at a bare-knuckle boxing event.
A Dramatically Expanded Criminal Case
The arrests followed closely on the heels of an announcement from Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service confirming it had approved a major expansion of the case against the brothers. Bedfordshire Police, which has led the UK investigation, said the new charges bring the total against the pair to 59, with Andrew Tate now facing 42 charges and Tristan Tate facing 17.
According to the CPS, Andrew Tate faces additional counts including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and offences involving alleged indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate faces additional rape, sexual assault and trafficking charges of his own. Prosecutors said the newly authorised allegations span from 2010 to 2017 and involve four additional alleged victims, bringing the total number of alleged victims in the UK case to seven.
Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, confirmed that British authorities are now moving to bring the brothers back to face the expanded case. “The CPS has requested the extradition of the Tates from the US,” McHaffie said.
“They have been arrested and await extradition proceedings to the UK.” Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas of Bedfordshire Police, whose force has led the investigation, framed the expanded charges as part of a broader commitment to pursuing allegations of abuse against women. “There is no place for male violence against women and girls, and we will continue to work tirelessly to support victims and investigate all reports made to us,” Thomas said.
From Bucharest To A Bare-Knuckle Ring In Miami
The Miami arrests cap a long and winding legal saga for the brothers, who hold dual US and British citizenship and rose to global fame promoting hypermasculine, unapologetically misogynistic content to millions of followers online. The CPS first authorised charges against the Tates in January 2024, but did not publicly confirm them until May 2025, when it revealed 21 total charges, including rape, human trafficking, controlling prostitution and actual bodily harm tied to three women.
At the time, prosecutors said extradition to the UK was on hold because the brothers first had to resolve separate criminal proceedings in Romania, where they were arrested in December 2022 on allegations of running a trafficking operation that lured women before subjecting them to sexual exploitation.
The brothers relocated to the United States earlier this year after Romanian officials lifted a travel ban that had confined them to the country, a decision that fueled speculation, denied by US officials, that the Trump administration had lobbied Bucharest on their behalf. Their arrival in Florida drew a pointed rebuke from Governor Ron DeSantis, who told reporters the state was “not a place where you’re welcome with that type of conduct.”
Both brothers have consistently denied all allegations against them in both the UK and Romania. Andrew Tate has previously dismissed the case as politically motivated, writing on social media after the initial charges were unsealed that the “UK government accuses the ‘innocent’ while murderers, violent illegals, and corrupt leaders walk free.”

A law enforcement source told Fox News the charges underpinning Saturday’s arrest stem from the United Kingdom and that the warrant is expected to be unsealed in full to reveal the specific UK allegations tied to the detention. The brothers are expected to make an initial appearance in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida early this coming week, where a judge will begin the formal extradition process that could ultimately see them returned to Britain to face the full slate of 59 charges.
Neither the US Marshals Service nor the Justice Department has publicly detailed the precise legal basis for the sealed warrant beyond confirming it was tied to the extradition request. Attorneys for the Tate brothers did not immediately respond to requests for comment following the arrests.
