Tennessee Courthouse Shooting Latest Update: Livestreamer Dalton Eatherly, widely known online as “ChudtheBuilder,” has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a shooting outside a courthouse in Tennessee shocked social media users and residents.

Authorities said the 28-year-old allegedly opened fire during a confrontation outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville on Wednesday, leaving another man injured. Investigators are still examining what exactly led to the altercation.

The incident has drawn national attention because Eatherly is known online for livestreaming confrontational videos and making racially offensive remarks in public.

What Happened Outside the Tennessee Courthouse?

According to officials, the shooting happened outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, located northwest of Nashville. District Attorney Robert J. Nash said Dalton Eatherly and another man became involved in a confrontation that escalated into gunfire.

Police have not publicly explained why Eatherly was at the courthouse or what triggered the dispute. After the shooting, emergency crews transported both men to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities said both individuals were in stable condition.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office later arrested Eatherly and charged him with:

  • Attempted murder
  • Employing a firearm during a dangerous felony
  • Aggravated assault
  • Reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon

Officials said Eatherly remains in custody pending an arraignment hearing.

Victim Identified as Joshua Fox

Although police did not initially identify the victim, a witness told the Associated Press the injured man was Black. Later, a GoFundMe campaign identified him as Joshua Fox. The fundraiser was created by a woman identifying herself as Fox’s wife, Ni.

In the fundraising appeal, she wrote, “It saddens me to come and ask for help, but today at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, TN, my husband was involved in an altercation that led to him being shot by a man known as ‘ChudtheBuilder,’ who is widely known for making racial slurs toward people of colour.”

She added that Fox suffered gunshot wounds to his stomach and shoulder but remains in stable condition.

“But the emotional and financial impact this will have on our family is unimaginable. There is no telling how long I may be out of work to help care for my husband, who is already a disabled veteran and suffers from other medical conditions.”

“Our children are also struggling through this difficult time. I’m not asking for a lot, but if you feel it in your heart to help, please consider donating to support our family during this time of need.”

The GoFundMe campaign had reportedly raised more than $18,000 at the time of publication.

Dalton Eatherly Claims Self-Defence

Following the shooting, a video was reportedly uploaded to the website Pump. Fun showed Eatherly speaking with paramedics. In the clip, he claimed he acted in self-defence after allegedly being attacked.

“Did I shoot myself or did it graze it?” Eatherly asked in the video while medical workers examined an injury. Authorities have not confirmed Eatherly’s version of events, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Why Was Eatherly at the Courthouse?

Court records show Dalton Eatherly had been scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning regarding a debt case involving approximately $3,300 allegedly owed to a credit company.

The civil lawsuit had reportedly been filed earlier this year on behalf of Midland Credit Management.

Public court documents do not confirm whether Eatherly actually attended the scheduled hearing before the shooting occurred.
