UAE attacked again: Missile, drone strike injures 3 in latest escalation in US-Iran war

The UAE Defence Ministry confirmed that its air defence systems intercepted ballistic missiles and UAVs during Iran’s latest attack, while authorities reported rising injuries and civilian fatalities involving multiple nationalities.

On Friday, May 8, the UAE activated its air defence systems to respond to Iran’s attack. The UAE Defence Ministry issued a statement saying that the air defence system engaged two ballistic missiles and three Unidentified Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

As a result of the defence operations, three people were moderately injured. Iran has been targeting the UAE since February 28, and since then, the nation’s defence system has intercepted a total of 551 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles, and 2,263 UAVs.

According to the UAE’s official statement, three more people sustained injuries, taking the total number of injuries to 230, involving individuals from various nationalities.

Since the beginning of the Iranian attacks, the total number of martyrs has reached two, apart from the death of a Moroccan civilian contracted with the Armed Forces.

“The total number of civilian fatalities stands at 10 from various nationalities,” the statement further read.

The Defence Ministry also affirmed that it remains fully prepared and ready to deal with any threats. It added that it would firmly confront anything that aims to undermine the country’s security.

The statement further added that the ministry is committed to ensuring the protection of the country’s sovereignty, security, and stability, while safeguarding its interests and national capabilities.

Total Injuries and Death Toll

The total number of injuries in the conflict has risen to 230. It includes citizens of multiple nationalities, including Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, and others.

The country has also confirmed three deaths in the ongoing conflict, including one Moroccan civilian contracted with the Armed Forces, while the total number of civilian fatalities stands at 10. The victims belong to different nationalities, including Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian, Indian, and Egyptian citizens.
