Prince William has issued a heartfelt message following the death of Corporal Lucy Wilde, a 25-year-old army medic who had gained popularity on TikTok for sharing insights into her life. The army medic died on 5 February at her barracks in Warminster, Wiltshir and tributes have poured in from her colleagues and members of the general public.
The Prince of Wales, who is the colonel of the Welsh Guards and whose troops Cpl Wilde was a part of, remembered his meeting with her in 2024 as one he would never forget. He remembered her kindness and compassion as being obvious and beyond doubt, saying that she was a brave medic who always had the welfare of others at heart and he offered his condolences to Wilde’s family and friends.
Cpl Lucy Wilde, who was serving with the Royal Yorkshire Regiment at the time of her death and was previously a member of the Welsh Guards, enlisted in the Army eight years ago. She was soon recognized for her ability to remain calm in the most trying circumstances, her dedication and her professionalism. Cpl Wilde was known for her sense of humor and her authenticity, which helped her forge strong bonds with her colleagues.
The Welsh Guards commended Cpl Wilde for her acts of bravery in a mass casualty incident in the Falkland Islands. She was the first to arrive at the incident when a vehicle turned over, tending to several injured Guardsmen and ensuring that everyone was accounted for. For her bravery and professionalism, she was awarded a commendation for being a medic who exceeded the call of duty.
