New tension emerged in the Middle East as an Iranian ballistic missile strike targeted a Kuwait airbase that was hosting US forces. The attack caused several injuries to the American Personnel and massive damage to military equipment.
According to sources familiar with the incident, Kuwait’s air defence systems have successfully intercepted an Iranian Fateh-110 ballistic missile. However, debris from the intercepted missile reportedly struck Ali Al Salem Air Base, which caused minor injuries to around five individuals, including active-duty military personnel and contractors.
The attack also dealt a costly blow to US military assets. One MQ-9 Reaper drone was destroyed, while another suffered severe damage. The advanced unmanned strike drones are valued at approximately US$30 million each, highlighting the strategic impact of the incident.
US-Israel-Iran War Update: Ceasefire Under Pressure as Trump Weighs Critical Decision
The strike comes at a critical moment in US-Iran relations. US President Donald Trump is reportedly considering a proposal to extend a fragile ceasefire that has been in place since April. Although there have been repeated violations and military exchanges by both sides.
On Friday, Trump hinted that he was prepared to make a ‘final determination’ on a preliminary agreement, but the high-level meeting in the White House Situation Room ended without any public announcement. This has developed further uncertainty over Washington’s next move.
The broader conflict continues to exact a heavy toll. The US military has reportedly depleted significant stocks of key munitions, including Tomahawk cruise missiles, JASSM-ER weapons, and air defence systems such as THAAD and Patriot PAC-3 interceptors.
Meanwhile, Iran has intensified its missile campaign, launching more than 1,850 ballistic missiles across the region since the conflict began on February 28. The latest Pentagon figures show 14 American fatalities and 409 injuries linked to Operation Epic Fury, underscoring the growing human and strategic costs of the ongoing confrontation
