As tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, US President Donald Trump has claimed that the ongoing war with Iran could end very soon, asserting that the decision ultimately rests with him. Speaking in a phone interview on Wednesday, Trump said the conflict could stop “any time I want it to end,” while also suggesting that Iran’s military capabilities have been significantly weakened after a series of US and Israeli strikes.
His remarks come at a time when attacks across the region have not slowed, with Israeli officials indicating that military operations against Iran will continue until their strategic goals are achieved.
US-Iran War Update: Will the US-Iran War End Soon? Trump Makes Bold Claim
During a phone interview, Trump suggested that the conflict may not last much longer, stating that most of the major targets in Iran have already been hit.
“Little this and that…Any time I want it to end, it will end.”
The US President also claimed that the military campaign has already severely damaged Iran’s capabilities. According to Trump, there are very few remaining targets left for US forces to strike.
He said there is “practically nothing left to target”, indicating that the objectives of the operation may already be largely accomplished.
However, despite these statements, the situation on the ground continues to remain volatile.
Israel Says Strikes on Iran Will Continue ‘As Long As Necessary’
While Trump hinted that the war may end soon, Israel signalled a different approach. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said that military operations against Iran will continue without a fixed timeline.
“This operation will continue without any time limit, as long as necessary, until we achieve all the objectives and decide the outcome of the campaign.”
Katz also made it clear that strikes across Iran, including in the capital Tehran, would continue in the coming days.
“day after day, target after target”.
According to Israeli officials, the objective of the campaign is not only to weaken Iran’s military infrastructure but also to create pressure inside the country.
Katz added that the attacks could eventually encourage Iranians to challenge their leadership.
“Ultimately, that is something that depends on them.”
Trump Claims Iran’s Military Power Has Been Destroyed
In earlier remarks, Trump claimed that Iran’s military capabilities have already been largely dismantled during the ongoing conflict.
He said the country no longer has significant operational strength across several key military areas.
“Their missiles are down to a scatter. Their drones are being blown up all over the place, including their manufacturing of drones.”
Trump also claimed that Iran has lost its navy, communications network, and air force, suggesting that Tehran has little remaining ability to respond militarily.
According to the US President, Iran has almost nothing left in a “military sense.”
Trump Issues Strong Warning to Iran
Despite claiming that the war may end soon, Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, cautioning the country against taking any further aggressive action.
“They’ve shot everything they have to shoot, and they better not try anything cute, or it’s going to be the end of that country…If they do anything bad, that would be the end of Iran, and you’d never hear the name again.”
The warning comes amid rising fears of a broader regional conflict.
US-Iran War Update: Strait of Hormuz Tensions Add to Middle East Crisis
Another flashpoint in the conflict has been the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route.
Trump recently warned Iran against placing naval mines in the strategic waterway.
“If Iran has put out any mines in the Hormuz Strait, and we have no reports of them doing so, we want them removed, IMMEDIATELY! If for any reason mines were placed, and they are not removed forthwith, the Military consequences to Iran will be at a level never seen before.”
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy chokepoints, and any disruption there could have major consequences for global oil markets.
As the conflict continues, global leaders are closely watching whether the tensions between the US, Israel and Iran will escalate further or move toward a possible end.
