Iran has completed the development of Phase 11 of the South Pars gasfield, reaching a production capacity of 1 billion cubic feet, or about 28.3 million cubic metres, per day.

According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, the project was completed using domestic engineering expertise after foreign partners, including France’s Total and China’s CNPC, left the project following years of delays.

Iranian officials said the additional production would help address domestic energy imbalances and strengthen gas supplies ahead of the winter season. South Pars is a major source of Iran’s natural gas, making production from the field important for the country’s domestic energy system.

US-Israel-Iran War Latest Live News: Kayhan Editor Raises Questions Over Iran’s Compulsory Hijab Enforcement

Kayhan editor Hossein Shariatmadari has criticised the heads of Iran’s three branches of government over the enforcement of compulsory hijab rules.

In an editorial addressed to the president, parliament speaker and judiciary chief, Shariatmadari argued that wartime conditions should not be used as a reason to delay enforcement against women who do not follow the compulsory hijab rules.

He described the government’s handling of the issue as a “dereliction of duty” and accused officials of failing to follow Islamic law and directives attributed to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Shariatmadari also argued that opposition to compulsory hijab was linked to a foreign campaign against the Islamic Republic. His comments represent his position and should not be treated as an independent assessment or an official government statement.

The WFP said fighting has displaced tens of thousands of people and disrupted food supplies and markets. Yemen depends heavily on imported food, meaning disruptions to trade routes, markets and humanitarian access can quickly affect household food security.
