US-Israel-Iran War Latest Live News: The US military is facing strategic weapons shortages and supply bottlenecks after its war with Iran, according to a new Pentagon Inspector General report. The assessment says Operation Epic Fury cost the United States an estimated $33.4 billion through June 30, with much of the spending linked to expended munitions.

The report also details losses and damage to US military aircraft and bases across the Middle East. It warns that the pace of operations exposed weaknesses in the defence industrial base and created challenges in replenishing weapons stocks.

US Iran War Cost Reaches $33.4 Billion, Pentagon Report Says

According to the Inspector General’s assessment, the US spent an estimated $33.4 billion on Operation Epic Fury between February 28 and June 30.

Of that amount, around $22.3 billion was spent on expended munitions, highlighting the scale of weapons use during the conflict.

The report also identifies additional war-related expenses and the value of military equipment lost during the operation.

US Military Faces Strategic Munitions Shortfalls

One of the report’s key findings is that Operation Epic Fury resulted in strategic inventory shortfalls.

The assessment also identified industrial-base bottlenecks affecting munitions resupply, raising questions about how quickly depleted weapons stocks can be replenished during a prolonged conflict.

The findings provide an official assessment of the logistical pressure created by the campaign.

How Many US Aircraft Were Destroyed Or Damaged?

The report details significant losses involving US military aircraft.

It says four F-15 fighter jets were destroyed, while as many as 30 MQ-9 Reaper drones were also destroyed. In addition, one F-35 fighter jet and seven KC-135 tanker aircraft were damaged, according to the assessment.

These losses add to the cost and logistical burden associated with sustaining US military operations in the region.

Iran Strikes Damaged US Bases Across Middle East

The Inspector General’s report says Iranian strikes damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings and structures at US bases across the Middle East.

The affected locations included US facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan. The report did not provide a final cost estimate for all of the structural damage.

The attacks also created additional logistical challenges for US forces operating across the region.

Operation Epic Fury Exposes Defence Industry Bottlenecks

The report’s warning about the US defence industrial base is significant because replacing advanced weapons can take considerable time.

Between February 28 and June 30, the pace of munitions expenditure exposed gaps between the military’s requirements and the ability of manufacturers to replenish certain stocks.

The assessment therefore points beyond the immediate cost of the war to longer-term questions about military readiness and weapons production.

US-Iran War Latest News: What Does The Report Mean?

The report provides a detailed picture of the financial and military impact of Operation Epic Fury through June 30.

While the US continues to maintain military capabilities in the region, the Inspector General’s findings show that the campaign placed considerable pressure on weapons inventories, aircraft assets, infrastructure and the defence supply chain.

The findings are likely to fuel further scrutiny in Washington over ammunition production, military readiness and the cost of sustaining large-scale operations.

US-Israel-Iran War Latest Live Updates

The Pentagon Inspector General report represents one of the clearest official assessments so far of the cost and military impact of Operation Epic Fury.

With the operation estimated to have cost $33.4 billion through June 30 and the report identifying strategic munitions shortfalls, the US faces the challenge of rebuilding depleted inventories while maintaining military readiness.
