The United States said it launched another round of military strikes against Iranian targets after two American service members were killed in an attack on a military installation in Jordan on Friday.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the operation was carried out to “swiftly punish” Iran for the attack that claimed the lives of the two US personnel.

Reacting to the incident, US President Donald Trump called the deaths “a very sad thing.” The latest strikes targeted military infrastructure, including missile sites, air defence systems and drone-related facilities, according to US officials.

The overnight operation marked the eighth straight night of US military action against Iran, making it one of the longest sustained American bombing campaigns in the region in recent years.

The strikes reportedly focused on strategic military assets in southern Iran as Washington increased pressure on Tehran following recent attacks on US forces stationed across the Middle East.

The military campaign comes amid growing concerns that continued retaliation from both sides could push the region closer to a wider conflict.

The latest US military operation followed Friday’s deadly attack in Jordan, where two American service members lost their lives. CENTCOM said the strikes were specifically launched to respond to those deaths and to hold Iran accountable.

The attack has significantly raised tensions between Washington and Tehran, with US officials warning that further action could follow if American personnel continue to come under attack.

US-Israel-Iran War Latest Live News: Explosions Reported in Southern Iran

Residents in Iran’s southern coastal region reported hearing multiple explosions early Sunday. According to Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA, blasts were heard in Bandar Abbas as well as on Qeshm Island, both strategically located near the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian authorities did not immediately provide details about casualties or damage caused by the explosions. The incidents came shortly after the latest wave of US airstrikes.

Jordan took emergency security measures after the US Embassy warned of a “specific and credible threat” in Aqaba, the country’s only Red Sea port city. Authorities evacuated both Aqaba International Airport and the city’s seaport as a precaution.

The embassy also advised American citizens not to travel to either location until further notice. No immediate statement was issued by Jordanian authorities regarding the nature of the threat.

The US Embassy in Jordan expanded its travel advisory, urging American citizens to avoid military installations across the country. The advisory comes after repeated attacks targeting locations hosting US troops in Jordan.

The embassy stated, “We strongly advise all Americans to refrain from travelling to either the airport or seaport.” Officials also advised Americans to avoid military bases until the security situation improves.

US-Israel-Iran War Latest Live News: Iran Warns Ships in Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed that two ships were involved in an “accident” after attempting to pass through what Tehran described as an “unsafe route” in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the Guards alleged that four vessels ignored Iranian warnings while operating with US backing.

In a statement, the Revolutionary Guards warned, “Vessels that are influenced by the words of the Americans and enter unsafe routes will certainly face accidents.” The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important oil shipping lanes, and any disruption could affect global energy markets.

US-Israel-Iran War Latest Live News: What’s Next?

The latest exchange of attacks signals that neither Washington nor Tehran is ready to back down.

With the United States continuing its military campaign, Iran expanding its warnings in the Strait of Hormuz, and Gulf nations now actively intercepting missile and drone attacks, the conflict is entering a more volatile phase.

Security experts warn that further attacks on US forces, commercial shipping or regional military bases could trigger a broader confrontation involving more countries across the Middle East. As diplomatic efforts remain limited, the coming days are expected to be critical in determining whether the crisis can be contained or escalates into a larger regional war.
