This evening, US President Donald Trump posted a new map on his social media platform Truth Social. Trump captioned the image, which featured the Strait of Hormuz as “New US Territory”. Last week as well, Trump threatened to declare the Strait of Hormuz a US territory after Iran’s “surrender”. Iranian authorities have not reacted to the post yet.

Iran’s top diplomat and foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has made a brazen claim with regards to negotiations. According to him, “America is now begging to negotiate with us according to our conditions,”. He then touted the victory of Iran in this war stating, “We won the war, and we also won in diplomacy, and we forced the enemy to accept our conditions,” . Araghchi also vowed that Tehran “will not surrender” despite pressure from Washington.

Dr Majed al-Ansari, a spokesperson of Qatar’s foreign ministry recently spoke about the negotiations between the US and Iran. Al-Ansari said that Qatar appreciates how Pakistan wants to broker peace between the countries.
“We are supportive of the diplomatic effort by Pakistan that has shown seriousness in bringing parties together and finding a solution and we do believe it needs more time”, he said at a press conference in Doha but refused to elaborate.

Oman shares good ties with Iran & according to multiple reports, the two countries are working on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
