The IRGC said the attack was carried out in retaliation for a reported US strike on a wedding gathering in Sirik, Hormozgan province. Tehran claimed around 70 people were attending the gathering and said four people, including a child, were killed, while several others suffered serious injuries.
Describing the missile attack as “retribution” for the Sirik incident, the IRGC said the strike was part of Iran’s response to US military actions. Iran has previously claimed to have targeted Prince Hassan Air Base during the ongoing conflict, including facilities believed to house US MQ-9 drones.
