US Israel Iran War Latest News: The conflict between the United States and Iran widened sharply on Sunday after Iran launched fresh missile and drone attacks targeting US military facilities across the Gulf region. Iran claimed to have struck American military sites in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan, while Qatar reported intercepting a missile attack and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) activated its air defence systems to counter incoming missiles and drones.
The latest escalation came hours after the United States carried out another wave of military strikes on Iran following an attack on a commercial cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran said it launched coordinated attacks against several US military installations across the Gulf in response to continued American airstrikes. According to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, explosive drones targeted a Patriot air defence system, an ammunition depot and a US radar installation in Kuwait.
Iran also claimed another wave of drone attacks hit a US communications system and radar facility in Bahrain. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) further claimed it fired several ballistic missiles at US military positions at Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan. Iran said the attacks were carried out in retaliation for ongoing US military operations against targets inside the country.

As tensions escalated, Qatar’s armed forces announced that they had successfully intercepted a missile attack targeting the country. In Bahrain, authorities activated air raid sirens and instructed residents to move to safe locations as a precaution. The United Arab Emirates also confirmed that its air defence systems were engaging incoming Iranian missiles and drones. Explosions heard in parts of the country were linked to interception operations, officials said.

The latest Iranian retaliation followed a fresh round of US military strikes launched after Washington accused Iran of attacking a Cyprus-flagged container ship in the Strait of Hormuz. Following the attack, Iran declared the strategic waterway closed “until further notice.” Explosions were later reported across several parts of southern Iran, including Bushehr, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar and Jask, during the US operation. Reports also said the crew of the damaged cargo ship abandoned the vessel, while one civilian crew member remained missing.
US Israel Iran War Latest News: US Says Around 140 Iranian Military Targets Were Hit
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces struck approximately 140 Iranian military targets during the latest operation conducted on July 11, marking the third round of US strikes against Iran this week. According to CENTCOM, the operation targeted missile and drone launch sites, naval facilities, ammunition depots, communications networks and coastal surveillance systems.
The military said precision-guided weapons were launched from fighter aircraft, drones and naval vessels operating from land and sea. CENTCOM added that more than 300 military targets had been hit during three nights of operations ordered by President Donald Trump.
According to the US military, the objective was to weaken Iran’s ability to threaten civilian sailors and commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM also said that since early May, US forces have helped ensure the safe passage of more than 800 commercial vessels carrying approximately 400 million barrels of crude oil through the strategic waterway.
