Lebanese president Joseph Aoun addressed the National Council for Scientific Research earlier today. During the address, Aoun reaffirmed his government’s commitment to “end the current situation” in Southern Lebanon.
“The biggest challenge is reconstruction after Israel withdraws from the occupied towns and villages and the Lebanese army deploys up to the border,” he stated. Despite a US brokered ceasefire between, the IDF conducts intermittent attacks in southern Lebanon, as it believes that those areas are allegedly associated with Iran backed Shia militant group Hezbollah.
US-Israel-Iran War Latest News: US Department of Justice Charges 17 Iranians Over Alleged Cybercampaign
The U.S. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has unsealed a 14-count superseding indictment charging 17 Iranian nationals associated with the Iran-based Mabna Institute for cybercampaign targeting hundreds of universities, companies and government agencies in the US as well as abroad.
The prosecution team accused the Iranians of allegedly stealing 31 terabytes of academic data and intellectual property after breaching 144 US universities, 178 foreign universities, dozens of companies and several US government agencies. In its statement, the DOJ claimed that many of the activities under this alleged cybercrime operation were carried out on behalf of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and other Iranian government and university clients.

Iraqi Parliament Speaker Haibat al-Halbousi reportedly made a request for his Iranian counterpart Mohammed Bagher Ghalifbaf today. His request was that Iran grant special treatment to Iraq for all oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz.
al-Halbousi reportedly stated that most affected by regional developments and urged Tehran to consider the ties between the neighbouring countries “in a way that preserves Iraq’s economic interests”. The news was reported by Iraqi state media. Ghalibaf has expressed that Iran remains eager to expand cooperation with Iraq, particularly in the trade and economic sectors.

This evening, US President Donald Trump posted a new map on his social media platform Truth Social. Trump captioned the image, which featured the Strait of Hormuz as “New US Territory”. Last week as well, Trump threatened to declare the Strait of Hormuz a US territory after Iran’s “surrender”. Iranian authorities have not reacted to the post yet.
