US-Israel-Iran War Latest News: The Strait of Hormuz remained shut on Friday even after a recently announced ceasefire between the United States and Iran. The situation continues to disrupt global oil movement, while Israel and Hezbollah exchanged fire in Lebanon. Both Washington and Tehran have accused each other of violating the ceasefire terms just before planned peace talks.
The two-day-old ceasefire has stopped US and Israeli air strikes on Iran, but it has not reopened the key shipping route or reduced tensions in Lebanon, where a parallel conflict continues.
US-Israel-Iran War: Donald Trump Criticises Iran Over Oil Flow
US President Donald Trump said Iran is not properly allowing oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. In a social media post, he stated that Iran was doing a “very poor job” and added, “That is not the agreement we have!” In another message, he suggested that oil flow would resume soon, although no details were provided on how this would happen.
US-Israel-Iran War: Israel-Hezbollah Fighting Escalates in Lebanon
Iran has accused Israel of violating the ceasefire by continuing military strikes in Lebanon. Israel launched its heaviest attacks of the war shortly after the truce began, killing more than 250 people in densely populated areas.
Iran argues that the ceasefire should also cover Lebanon, a view initially supported by Pakistan, which helped mediate the agreement. However, Israel and the United States say Lebanon is not part of the US-Iran ceasefire deal. Later, Israel announced it would hold separate talks with the Lebanese government to end the conflict and disarm Hezbollah.
US-Iran Peace Talks to Begin in Islamabad
Despite ongoing accusations of violations, both sides are preparing for the first round of US-Iran peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, starting Saturday. Security has been tightened in the Pakistani capital. Authorities have created a 3-kilometre “red zone” around a luxury hotel, clearing it for the delegations.
The Iranian team, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, is expected to arrive under heavy security, with reports suggesting an escort by the Pakistani Air Force. The US delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, is scheduled to arrive ahead of the talks.
US-Israel-Iran War Latest News: Global Oil Prices and Supply Disruption
The ceasefire has raised expectations that oil exports from the Middle East will gradually resume. However, immediate oil prices remain high, with some refineries in Europe and Asia reportedly paying close to $150 per barrel. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has also dropped sharply. In the first 24 hours of the ceasefire, only a few vessels passed through, compared to the usual traffic of around 140 ships daily.
US Iran War Impact and Unresolved US Objectives
Although US President Donald Trump has claimed success, the conflict has not achieved its main strategic goals. These included limiting Iran’s military strength, dismantling its nuclear programme, and weakening its government.
Iran still maintains a strong missile and drone arsenal and holds more than 400 kg of near-weapons-grade uranium. Despite earlier unrest, its leadership remains stable, with no major organised opposition emerging during the conflict.
