US-Israel-Iran War Latest News: The United States and Iran moved a step closer to a broader regional confrontation after the US military announced fresh strikes on roughly 140 Iranian targets early Sunday, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it launched retaliatory missile attacks on a Jordanian air base. Qatar separately said its armed forces intercepted a missile attack targeting the country.

The latest developments come amid rising tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global shipping route that has become a flashpoint in the ongoing US-Iran standoff.

US-Israel-Iran War Latest News: CENTCOM Says 140 Iranian Targets Hit

US Central Command said the third round of strikes this week targeted Iranian military infrastructure linked to missile, drone, naval, and surveillance operations.

“Iranian missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, ammunition storage facilities, communication networks, and coastal surveillance locations”

According to CENTCOM, the latest operation brought the total number of Iranian targets hit over the past three nights to more than 300.

“During three nights of strikes this week, CENTCOM has struck more than 300 targets at the direction of the Commander in Chief to degrade Iran’s ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial vessels freely transiting the strait.”

The US military said the latest strikes were launched after a container ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz came under threat. Earlier, the IRGC said it had fired a warning shot at a vessel attempting to use what it described as an unauthorized route through the waterway.

US-Israel-Iran War Latest News: Strait of Hormuz Tensions Rise

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy corridors, with a significant share of global oil and gas shipments passing through it.

Washington has repeatedly accused Iran of threatening commercial shipping in the area, while Tehran maintains that foreign military activity near its coastline is destabilizing the region.

US-Israel-Iran War Latest News: IRGC Claims Missile Strike on Jordan Air Base

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they launched retaliatory strikes on Prince Hassan Air Base, a facility operated by Jordan’s air force.

In a statement carried by Iranian state media outlet IRIB, the IRGC claimed it used several ballistic missiles and destroyed:

  • A control-and-command center

  • Drone storage hangars

The IRGC said the attack was an immediate response to US airstrikes on Iranian coastal bases and telecommunications towers.

“Any further US attacks would be met with stronger responses.”

US Central Command has not yet publicly confirmed the Iranian claim.

US-Israel-Iran War Latest News: Qatar Says Missile Attack Was Intercepted

In another sign of widening regional instability, Qatar’s Defense Ministry said its armed forces successfully intercepted a missile attack targeting the country.

“Its armed forces have been able to intercept a missile attack which targeted the State of Qatar.”

The ministry did not immediately provide details on the origin of the missile or whether any damage occurred.

US-Israel-Iran War Latest News: What Happens Next?

The latest exchange marks one of the most intense periods of military activity between the United States and Iran in recent years.

Analysts say attention will now focus on:

  • Whether the US launches additional strikes

  • Whether Iran expands retaliatory attacks beyond Jordan

  • The security of commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz

  • The response of Gulf states, including Qatar and Jordan

With both Washington and Tehran signalling a willingness to respond forcefully to further attacks, concerns are growing that the confrontation could spread across multiple countries in the Middle East.
